
BREAKWATER REPAIR & DREDGING
The Army Corps of Engineers is well underway on the west breakwater repair and dredging project with anticipated completion by September 3, 2026. Please slow down, steer clear and keep your distance while following instructions from onsite marine personnel.
PHASE 4 TO COMMENCE FALL 2026
Wind & Sea’s final day of business on the Wharf will be September 15, 2026 in preparation for Building 1 construction. Buildings 2-5 will follow for remaining Wharf retailers and restaurants with the final day of business on October 31, 2026.
Dana Wharf Sportfishing & Whale Watching and Catalina Express will remain open and relocate to temporary trailers for uninterrupted business operations with excursions 7 days a week.
The Marina at Dana Point
On August 4, 2022, The Marina at Dana Point began construction on the new marina featuring brand-new docks and slips to be completed in a total of 15 strategic phases.
On July 1, 2025, the final phase of the West Basin Island officially opened for occupancy, marking the completion of 8 phases (50%) and 1,115 brand-new slips.
Phase 9 opened for occupancy on October 1, 2025, including Dock of the Harvest Lantern and Dock of the Lavender Lantern. Phase 10 began demolition October 6, 2025, and the new Dock of the Sage Lantern and Dock of the Admiral Lantern opened for occupancy at year end.
In addition, the Fuel Dock Tank Replacement project commenced in December 2025 to upgrade equipment in-line with the latest safety and environmental compliance standards.
Phase 11 demolition began mid-January for the East Basin Island and opened for occupancy on May 15, 2026.
The Marina at Dana Point has surpassed 2/3 completion of the 15-phase revitalization, and began Phase 12 on June 1, 2026.

Restaurants & Retail
Phase 1 and 2 of the Commercial Core construction consists of the three-tiered parking structure, underground utility infrastructure and brand-new harbor entrance at the corner of Golden Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive. These concurrent phases began March 1, 2024 with completion July 2, 2025.
With the official completion of the first two phases, demolition for Phase 3 of the Commercial Core began February 2026, which will include over 100,000 sf of new development along the waterfront.
By facilitating the project in phases, the harbor will remain open to public access throughout the construction process. The Wharf is Open for business including whale watching, sport fishing and Catalina Express. For the latest offerings, please also visit our restaurant and shop listings!
Phase 4 Construction of the Wharf buildings is slated to begin Fall 2026.

Hospitality
Friday, June 14, 2024, the California Coastal Commission unanimously approved the R.D. Olson Development, City, and County proposal for two new hotels, the “Dana House” and “Surf Lodge,” as part of the Dana Point Harbor Revitalization. After nearly four years of negotiations, the approval includes support for a robust community benefits package that invests more than $6 million in Orange County based service organizations over the life of the project.
R.D. Olson Development received unanimous approval from Dana Point’s Planning Commission on June 23, 2025.
Construction of the two proposed hotels in Dana Point Harbor is on hold after the Orange County Board of Supervisors delayed a vote on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, for the new 66-year ground leases needed to move forward.
Supervisors voted to continue the item to their next meeting scheduled for August 11, 2026.
The Dana Point Marina Inn remains open for business and is currently accepting reservations through December 2026.
